Amy Winehouse's Cause of Death: Alcohol Poisoning

Amy Winehouse (Pacific Coast News) When Amy Winehouse passed away in July, her family insisted that illegal narcotics played no part in her tragic death. Now, a coroner has confirmed the family's assertions, announcing that the hard-living performer died of an accidental alcohol overdose.

Officially, Winehouse succumbed to a "death by misadventure," the "unintended consequence" of consuming large quantities of alcohol. Apparently Winehouse's blood-alcohol level was 0.416, several times the legal limit to drive in the UK.

Amy's personal doctor, Dr. Christina Romete, told police that Winehouse had been three weeks sober before she went on the final binge that took her life, adding, "I was not concerned that she was suicidal. She was looking forward to the future and we were discussing plans for her upcoming birthday party."

"She had previously said that she did not want to die and said that night, 'I have not achieved things I wanted to do.'"
